HL Deb 27 March 1956 vol 196 c796

Second Schedule, page 20, line 13, at end insert ("and, in the case of a deputy for a metropolitan stipendiary magistrate, shall be paid by the Lord Chancellor out of moneys provided by Parliament.")

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, the Bill transfers from the Home Secretary to the Lord Chancellor responsibility for directing what remuneration shall be paid to a deputy stipendiary magistrate, but it is defective in omitting to say who shall make the payment, which at present is borne by the Home Office Vote. This Amendment provides that these payments shall be made in future by the Lord Chancellor out of voted moneys. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in the Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
