THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT KILMUIR)

My Lords, I beg to move the Resolution standing in my name on the Order Paper. The object of it is to allow the Appellate Committee to continue their sittings, notwithstanding the Prorogation of your Lordships' House. It affects only Thursday afternoon and Monday, and the Appellate Committee intend to go on hearing cases on those days. I beg to move.

Moved to resolve, That in pursuance of the provisions of the Appellate Jurisdiction Act, 1876, and the resolution of this House of the 4th November, 1953, leave be given to the Appellate Committee to meet after the Prorogation of Parliament for the purpose of hearing such appeals as have been referred to them—(The Lord Chancellor.)
