HL Deb 30 July 1951 vol 173 cc14-5

Clause 30, page 15, line 44, leave out ("laid before Parliament") and insert ("subject to annulment in pursuance of a resolution of either House of Parliament.")

LORD MACDONALD OF GWAENYSGOR

My Lords, this is a drafting Amendment. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House do agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Macdonald of Gwaenysgor.)

LORD LLEWELLIN

My Lords, this is another Amendment which gives each House of Parliament power to annul the regulations which Ministers make. I think it is a considerable improvement, and perhaps the word "drafting" does not adequately sum it up.

LORD MACDONALD OF GWAENYSGOR

My Lords, I agree with the noble Lord. By accident, I turned over two pages of my brief. This Amendment makes the same alteration regarding annulment as the previous Amendment.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
