HL Deb 26 July 1951 vol 172 c1300
THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT JOWITT)

My Lords, I beg to move that this Order be approved. The Order will give effect, without modification, to the recommendation made by the Boundary Commission for Wales in their Report submitted to the Secretary of State on July 6, 1951, under Section 2 (3) of the House of Commons (Redistribution of Seats) Act, 1949, and now laid before Parliament in accordance with Section 2 (5) of that Act. The Order adjusts the boundaries of the three Cardiff constituencies and of the adjacent county constituencies of Barry and Monmouth, to conform with the city boundaries as constituted by the Cardiff Extension Act, 1950. In accordance with the proviso to Section 3 (6) of the Act of 1949, this Order will not affect any Parliamentary election until the General Election following its coming into force. I beg to move.

Moved, That the Draft House of Commons (Redistribution of Seats) (Cardiff, Barry and Monmouth) Order laid before the House on Tuesday the 17th instant, be approved.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
