HL Deb 16 November 1933 vol 89 cc434-5

Clause 304, page 180, line 29, after ("purposes") insert ("and, for the purposes of Part VI of this Act, includes a body which is a compensation authority for the purposes of the Licensing (Consolidation) Act, 1910, and an insurance committee constituted under the National Health Insurance Act, 1924.")

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, under Section 62 of the Local Government Act, 1888, any "authorities" affected by an order for the alteration of the areas may enter into agreements for the adjustment of their property, income, debts and liabilities. Clause 150 of the Bill, which reproduces Section 62 of the Act of 1883, has substituted references to "public bodies" for the references to "authorities," and it has been pointed out that the effect of this alteration will be to prevent adjustments being made in the future in the case of compensation authorities under the Licensing Acts and in the case of insurance committees. The object of this Amendment is to secure that these adjustments may be made in the future as in the past. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
