HL Deb 26 November 1914 vol 18 c198
VISCOUNT MIDLETON

My Lords, I should like to ask the noble Lord who represents the Admiralty whether he has any information he can give the House with regard to the alleged loss of H.M.S. "Bulwark."

LORD WIMBORNE

My Lords, I have to say that H.M.S. "Bulwark" was blown up at eight o'clock this morning while at anchor in the Medway. Both the Admirals on the spot are of opinion that the cause was internal magazine explosion. An inquiry will be held tomorrow. I regret to add that all the officers on board lost their lives and that twelve only of the ship's company were saved.
