HL Deb 26 November 1914 vol 18 c197

VISCOUNT MIDLETON had the following Notice on the Paper— To ask His Majesty's Government whether it is proposed to take any, and if so what, steps with regard to certain Irish newspapers who have published articles calculated to impede recruiting for the Army and gravely misrepresenting the action of this country in relation to the war in Europe.

The noble Viscount said: My Lords, I understand that this subject is undergoing the earnest attention of the Government, that they are fully alive to the importance of it, and that it would not he possible for them to make a statement on the subject to-day. Therefore I will not pursue the question.
