HL Deb 19 July 1909 vol 2 cc605-6
THE EARL OF NORTHBROOK

My Lords, I rise to ask the President of the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries whether, in the event of the Milk and Dairies Bill not passing through Parliament during the present session, it is the intention of the Board to postpone the date on which the Order recently issued by them in connection with the Bill comes into force; so that the provisions contained in the Bill and in the Order may come into operation on the same date.

THE PRESIDRNT OF THE BOARD OF AGRICULTURE AND FISHERIES (EARL CARRINGTON)

My Lords, the noble Earl asks whether, in the event of the Milk and Dairies Bill not passing through Parliament in the present session, it is the intention of the Board to postpone the date on which the Order to which he refers comes into force. That is the intention of His Majesty's Government, and the Order will be withdrawn if, unfortunately, the Bill does not pass through the other House.
