HL Deb 05 August 1909 vol 2 c926
THE MARQUESS OF LANSDOWNE

My Lords, I gave the noble Earl the Leader of the House private notice that I would ask him to-day whether he was able to give us any further information as to the course of business during the next few weeks.

THE LORD PRIVY SEAL AND SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (THE EARL OF CREWE)

My Lords, I am afraid I am not able to give a very large amount of information in reply to the noble Marquess's question, but our proposition is that after the sitting to-day we should adjourn until Monday the 16th, and on that day take the Appropriation Bill and the Public Works (Loans) Bill. On that day also there would be a Commission for the Royal Assent to those and to one or two other Bills. We should then propose, unless anything occurs in the meanwhile to cause us to alter our intentions, to adjourn till the 30th of August, and on that date, or the following day, if that should be more convenient to the House, to go on with the Trade Boards Bill and one or two minor Bills. It is expected that the Irish Land Bill will arrive here in the week beginning on August 30, and therefore it will be possible to take that Bill, if desired, in the second week of September, or, of course, if it suited noble Lords better, it could be postponed for a few days, but as regards the time of its arrival that is what is expected. I am afraid that is all the information I can give at this moment.
