HL Deb 01 August 1906 vol 162 c1022

House in Committee (according to Order).

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

It was promised in the House of Commons that this Bill should be carefully considered, and I have come to the conclusion, in which Lord Robertson, who is the greatest authority, concurs, that the suggested Amendment would be incompatible with the idea of statute law revision. There are certain other Amendments of a formal character, and if the Committee will allow me, I propose to move them en bloc.

Amendments made.

Standing Committee negatived. Then (Standing" Order No. XXXIX. having been suspended): Amendments reported. Bill read 3a, with the Amendments, and passed, and returned to the Commons.
