HL Deb 06 March 1905 vol 142 c387
THE EARL or ROSEBERY

My Lords, before your Lordships separate I should like to ask the noble Marquess the Leader of the House if he has any information to give us with reference to the Chief Secretaryship to the Lord-Lieutenant.

*THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (The Marquess of LANSDOWNE)

I believe it is generally known that the resignation of the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant has been announced this evening. The Prime Minister stated in another place that the resignation had been tendered to him with so much insistence by the Chief Secretary that he found it impossible not to accept it.

House adjourned at twenty-five minutes before Five o'clock, till To-morrow, half-past Ten o'clock.
