HC Deb 16 July 2004 vol 423 cc1722-4

Order for Second Reading read.

Mr. Deputy Speaker

Not moved.

Mr. Owen Paterson (North Shropshire) (Con)

On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker. I note from the Order Paper that the first Bill to be discussed on Friday 15 October is the Crown Employment (Nationality) Bill, which is promoted by the hon. Member for Hendon (Mr. Dismore). As he has had more than his fair crack of the whip today, do you have any discretion to allow the Bill that my hon. Friend the Member for South Norfolk (Mr. Bacon) is promoting and which has enormous support in the countryside. to take first place on Friday 15 October?

Mr. Deputy Speaker

The order of business is determined under Standing Orders and, at this point, it is not certain that there will be no variation. I suggest to the hon. Gentleman that he consult the right hon. Member for Bromley and Chislehurst (Mr. Forth).
