HC Deb 18 November 2003 vol 413 c745 8.47 pm
Joyce Quin (Gateshead, East and Washington, West)

I present to the House a petition on behalf of the staff, parents and friends of Oxclose community nursery school in support of their efforts to keep the school open. The petition is signed by some 2,000 people from the communities of Washington in my constituency that would be most affected by the proposed closure. The petitioners believe that the school has produced excellent results with its experienced staff and that it is an asset that gives real benefits to the surrounding area and community.

The conclusion of the petition states:

We, the Petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons support our Declaration, and urge the Government to take steps to ensure that Oxclose Community Nursery School remains open.

And the Petitioners remain, etc.

To lie upon the Table.
