HC Deb 10 May 2002 vol 385 c476

Order for Second Reading read.

Hon. Members

Object.

To be read a Second time on Friday 19 July.

Mr. Blunt

On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker. Is it possible for the record to show that it was the Government Whips who objected to my Bill? I happen to know that the Bill has cross-party support, and it is a great pity that the issues with which it deals cannot be debated in Committee following its Second Reading. Do the procedures of the House allow it to be made plain that it was the Government Whips who prevented further progress?

Mr. Deputy Speaker

The simple fact is that an objection to the Bill was made, and that is not a matter for the Chair.
