HC Deb 19 July 2002 vol 389 c635

Order for Second Reading read.

Hon. Members

Object.

To be read a Second time on Thursday 14 November.

Simon Hughes (Southwark, North and Bermondsey)

On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker. Many of us are used to this end-of-term cull of good prospective legislation—[HON. MEMBERS: "Oh."]—by the Government. To which Committee would we refer the question whether we could make the Government give reasons for objections when they make them?

Mr. Deputy Speaker

The only advice that I can give the hon. Gentleman is that he might take this up with the Procedure Committee. I am sure that the Chairman would be pleased to hear from him.
