HC Deb 10 November 1999 vol 337 c1260 11.49 pm
Valerie Davey (Bristol, West)

Pensioners presented me with this petition before the statements in the House yesterday by my right hon. Friends the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Secretary of State for Social Security. I am sure that they will have been pleased to learn of the additional benefits that they will receive, but I know that they would still want their request to be given serious consideration.

The petition of the Senior Citizens' Forum for Better Pensions: Declares that the state pension for senior citizens is not enough to live on with dignity. Pensioners are getting poorer. The Petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urges the Secretary of State for Social Security to restore the link between pensions and wages to help us, the pensioners of today, who have gone through two world wars And the Petitioners remain. The petition was signed by 150 pensioners in my constituency.

To lie upon the Table.
