§ Mr. Jim Fitzpatrick (Poplar and Canning Town)I wish to present a petition, which states:
To the honourable the Commons of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Parliament assembled. The humble petition of Martin Bowers, Chairman and Company Director of the Peacock Gymnasium, Caxton Street North, London E16 1JL, Charity Number 102296, and Fred Cutts, Trustee of the Peacock Gymnasium, Caxton Street North, London E16.Sheweth:—That since implementation of the Gaming Act 1968, no areas in London other than those described as permitted areas, namely the boroughs of Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea and part of Camden, have been identified as appropriate for 'casino' operation.Wherefore your Petitioners pray that your honourable House do urge the Secretary of State, the Home Office, to acknowledge that the mischief the Act then sought to address having now been achieved, to now include the area known as Docklands as a permitted area within which casinos may operate (subject of course to other existing regulations). To lie upon the Table.
