HC Deb 13 March 1998 vol 308 c850 9.37 am
Mr. Richard Spring (West Suffolk)

I have the honour to present a petition signed by 5,508 residents of Haverhill in my constituency.

The petition declares: at present the town's ambulances are not manned after 5pm from Sunday to Thursday. The only 24-hour cover is on Friday and Saturday night. For a town of this size we feel this is not adequate to have to rely on ambulances having to be dispatched in an emergency from Cambridge, with all the delays that this involves. This extra time could mean the difference between life and death. The Petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons ask the Secretary of State for Health to reconsider 24-hour emergency ambulance service provision in the town of Haverhill, Suffolk. And the Petitioners remain etc.

To lie upon the Table.
