HC Deb 10 July 1997 vol 297 c1170 10.15 pm
Ms Margaret Hodge (Barking)

The petition comes from citizens of the United Kingdom and was brought forward by a constituent of mine—[Interruption.]

Mr. Deputy Speaker (Sir Alan Haselhurst)

Order. I am sorry to interrupt the hon. Lady. Will hon. Members who are leaving the Chamber please do so expeditiously and as quietly as possible? I call Ms Hodge.

Ms Hodge

The petition declares: That the disappearance of Ben Needham a child of 21 months of age and a British subject, from the island of Kos in July 1991 and the failure of the local authorities to find him in the intervening years is a matter of concern to the Citizens of the United Kingdom. The Petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons request the Foreign Secretary to seek assurances from the Government of Greece that they are doing all that is practically possible to find this missing child and that they will continue to carry out thorough searches of their territories until the child is found. And your Petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.

To lie upon the Table.
