§ We have managed to find savings in housing capital expenditure, in particular that of the Housing 1087 Corporation. The Government will comfortably exceed their election manifesto commitment on the provision of new social housing up to 1994–95. The new plans will still allow a substantial social housing programme to continue, assisted by the corporation's success in levering in private finance.
