HC Deb 15 July 1994 vol 246 c1275 9.35 am
Mr. Paddy Ashdown (Yeovil)

I have the privilege to present a petition on behalf of my constituent Mrs. Debbie March, whose son Eric was blinded as a result of toxocariasis. He is one of about 100 children who suffer from blindness or serious disease of the eye every year as a result of dog mess. She believes, as do I, that we could prevent the problem by introducing a system of dog registration. The petition says: To the House of Commons The petition of citizens of the United Kingdom who declare that there is a danger of dirty parks and greens, stray dogs being put to sleep and a disease called toxocariasis for which there is no cure. The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons think again about dog registration and the petitioners remain, and so on.

To lie upon the Table.
