HC Deb 13 July 1993 vol 228 cc838-9

Mr. Jeremy Corbyn accordingly presented a Bill to harmonise the retirement age at 60 for both women and men; to provide for the state retirement pension to be linked to average earnings and to be universally available; and for connected purposes: And the same was read the First time; and ordered to be read a Second time upon Friday 23 July, and to be printed. [Bill 235]

Mr. David Winnick (Walsall, North)

On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker. Despite the controversy created by Ministers and other hon. Members, no one has objected to the Bill. That being the case, cannot we now make progress with the Bill for the good reasons advanced by my hon. Friend?

Mr. Deputy Speaker

The hon. Gentleman knows very well that that is not a matter for the Chair.
