HC Deb 11 May 1992 vol 207 c373 3.30 pm
Mr. Ray Powell (Ogmore)

On a point of order, Madam Speaker. As this is the first opportunity that 1 have had, may I congratulate you on your appointment?

My point of order is on a subject that is important to Wales. We had Welsh questions today. Of the 26 that were tabled, we dealt with 11. Will you use your influence to allow more time for Welsh questions so that Wales's 32 Opposition Members may have more opportunity to ask their questions, to have them answered and to ask supplementaries? Although my question was numbered 13, it was not called. I know that this is a British Parliament, but other Members are more involved in Welsh questions than they were some years ago.

Madam Speaker

That is a matter very much for the usual channels, but the one way to speed up all questions is for pertinent speedy questions to be asked and for speedy answers to be given. We should then get rapidly through the Order Paper.
