§
Motion made, and Question put forthwith pursuant to Standing Order No. 102(9) (European Standing Committees).
That this House takes note of European Community Document No. 8910/91, relating to the operation of the common organisation of the market in the sugar and isoglucose sectors; and supports the Government's intention to seek, in the forthcoming review of the Common Agricultural Policy sugar regime, to maintain the viability of both the cane and beet sugar sectors in the United Kingdom, to maintain the right of the ACP countries to export cane sugar to the Community as provided for in the Protocol to the Lomé Convention, and to the United Kingdom as expressed in the terms of the Resolution of this House of 11th November 1974, while making the regime more open to market forces and beneficial to consumers, and simultaneously recognising the need for the GATT negotiations to take proper account of the trade of developing countries.—[Mr. Nicholas Baker.]
§ Question agreed to.
