Mr. Mark Fisher, supported by Mr. Jeff Rooker, Ms. Clare Short, Mr. Chris Smith, Mr. Alistair Darling, Mr. Dafydd Wigley, Mrs. Margaret Ewing, Mr. Seamus Mallon, Mr. Archy Kirkwood, Mr. Clive Soley, Miss Emma Nicholson and Mr. Teddy Taylor, presented a Bill to establish a general right of access to official records for members of the public subject to certain exemptions; to provide for the correction of inaccurate official records; to provide for individuals to be notified of the availability of benefits in certain circumstances; to establish a right of access by individuals to their employment records subject to certain exemptions; to provide for the enforcement of these provisions; to amend the Companies Act 1985 with respect to the disclosure of certain information in the directors' report; to repeal the Official Secrets Act 1989 and replace it by new provisions; and for connected purposes: And the same was read the First time; and ordered to be read a Second time upon Friday 19 February 1993 and to be printed.
