HC Deb 08 June 1992 vol 209 c120 10.36 pm
Mr. Hugh Bayley (York)

I wish to present a petition, signed by 600 people, calling for the release from house arrest of Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been held in virtual isolation for the past three years at her home in Rangoon. The petition reads: That human rights continue to be violated in Burma (Union of Myanmar) as evidenced by the house arrest of Aung San Suu Kyi and the detention of other prisoners of conscience. Wherefore your humble petitioners pray that your honourable House urge the Government to continue the international pressure to secure the release of Aung San Suu Kyi and other Burmese prisoners of conscience. And your Petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray, etc.

To lie upon the Table.
