HC Deb 05 June 1992 vol 208 c1032 9.35 am
Mr. Dennis Skinner (Bolsover)

On a point of order, Madam Speaker. Do you read the Daily Mirror? It has this morning published a poll about a referendum on Maastricht. You have heard the exchanges here in the course of this week. You know what a wonderful week those of us who realise that Maastricht has been an unmitigated disaster have had. The poll in the Daily Mirror—a very authentic poll—shows that the British people are 7:1 against. Now we all know that during the general election the polls got it wrong. But 7:1—I ask you! There is a big margin for error. I think that there should be a statement from the responsible Minister.

Madam Speaker

The hon. Gentleman knows that that is by no means a point of order for the Chair. It is nothing that I can deal with this morning.
