In considering the action to be taken, I have borne in mind the rule for questions, which lays down that questions are inadmissible if they are
multiplied with variations on the same point".Hon. Members will find that ruling in the 21st edition of Erskine May, page 294.I have decided that it would be in the best interests of the House to apply the same rules to the tabling of early-day motions. Without such a rule, there would be a danger of the order paper being misused, not least during the period before a general election. If I am satisfied that the series of motions submitted are multiplied with slight variations on the same point and thus constitute a campaign, they will not be printed.
