Mr. Secretary Brooke, supported by the Prime Minister, Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Secretary Clarke, Mr. Secretary Heseltine, Mr. Secretary Hunt, Mr. Secretary Lang, Secretary Sir Patrick Mayhew, Mr. Secretary Patten, Mrs. Secretary Bottomley, Mrs. Secretary Shephard, and Mr. Robert Key, presented a Bill to authorise lotteries to be promoted as part of a National Lottery; to make provision with respect to the running and regulation of that National Lottery and with respect to the distribution of its net proceeds; to increase the membership and extend the powers of the Trustees of the National Heritage Memorial Fund; to amend to law relating to lotteries promoted on behalf of societies or by local authorities and the law relating to pool betting; and for connected purposes: And the same was read the First time and ordered to be read a Second time tomorrow; and to be printed.
