HC Deb 18 October 1991 vol 196 c537 9.36 am
Mr. Graham Allen (Nottingham, North)

I should like to present a petition to you, Mr. Speaker, and to the House from the people of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, opposing the opting out of the City hospital in Nottingham. The massive petition has been signed by many thousands of people in Nottinghamshire who are concerned about the issue. I hope that it is seen as the first shot in getting the hospital back where it belongs—in the national health service.

Mr. Speaker

Would the hon. Gentleman read the final words of the petition?

Mr. Allen

The final words are: Your Honourable House hold an inquiry into the opting out of hospitals and halts the opting out of the City hospital and the Queen's medical centre in Nottingham. To lie upon the Table.
