HC Deb 26 April 1991 vol 189 c1321 9.36 am
Mr. Dudley Fishburn (Kensington)

I beg leave to present a petition on behalf of the governors, teachers, parents and neighbours of St. Francis primary school, Treadgold street, Notting Hill, in my constituency of Kensington. The petition states that the redevelopment of the school is a matter of great urgency because of the highly unsatisfactory conditions in which 325 children are being taught. The proposed redevelopment depends on the closure of Treadgold street, in the royal borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The petition has been signed by more than 2,000 people, which constitutes some 5 per cent. of my electorate in the constituency of Kensington.

The petitioners pray that your honourable House requests the Right Hon. Secretary of State, Department of Transport to grant immediate permission for the closure of Treadgold street so that work on the redevelopment, the plans for which already have been approved by the Department of Education and Science and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, may begin without further delay.

To lie upon the Table.
