Amendments made:No. 22, in page 24, line 5, at end insert— ' "equity share capital" has the meaning given by section 744 of the Companies Act 1985;'.

No. 23, in page 24, line 20, leave out 'References in this Act' and insert 'In this Act—

  1. (a) references, in relation to any company, to maximising participation by employees of the company in ownership of its equity share capital are references to—
    1. (i) securing the disposal to managers or other persons employed by the company of the whole or a substantial part of its equity share capital; and
    2. (ii) securing that the persons to whom any such disposal is made comprise the greatest possible number of managers or other persons so employed; and
  2. (b) references'.—[Mr. Loughton.]
