Amendment made: No. 72, in page 36, line 47, at end insert— `( ) A person who, for the purposes of an application for the surrender of a licence, makes any statement which he knows to be false in a material particular or recklessly makes any statement which is false in a material particular shall be liable—

  1. (a) on summary conviction, to a fine not exceeding the statutory maximum; and
  2. (b) on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or to a fine or both.'.—[ Mr. Trippier.]
