Lords amendment: No. 4, in page 5, line 26, leave out subsection (8) and insert— (8) The following provisions shall cease to have effect—

  1. (a) in section 2 of the Social Security Act 1988, the subsection (8) originally enacted (restriction on entitlement to reduced earnings allowance); and
  2. (b) in Schedule 1 to the 1989 Act, paragraph 8(7) (which substitutes for that subsection a subsection (8) and a subsection (8A))."

I beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said amendment.

This is a technical amendment, necessary because subsections (8) and (8A) of section 2 of the Social Security Act 1988, amended in schedule 1 to the 1989 Act, had not been commenced.
