These are important amendments. Amendment No. 231 amends the Legal Aid Act to provide that civil legal aid is available for all civil proceedings in magistrates courts. Proceedings in the High Court and county court, including those under the Bill, automatically attract civil legal aid without the need for specific provision to be made. New clause 17 provides that civil legal aid is to be available for proceedings under the Bill——
