Mr. Jeremy Corbyn accordingly presented a Bill to require the appointment of a Minister with responsibility for retired people; to require local authorities to report annually on the condition of retired people; to require health authorities to report on their services for the elderly; to ensure that standing charges for gas, electricity. water and telephones are abolished for pensioners; to provide for concessionary transport schemes for the elderly; to ensure that unit costs for food are the same for small purchasers; and to ensure that the state old age pension is linked to average earnings: And the same was read the First time, and ordered to be read a Second time upon Friday 3 March and to be printed.
