HC Deb 17 February 1989 vol 147 c618 9.39 am
Mr. Harry Barnes (Derbyshire, North-East)

On a point of order, Mr. Speaker. I do not wish to delay the proceedings of the House, but I do not know whether you have had a chance to hear the tapes of last night's Adjournment debate and note the deliberate, organised disruption of that debate. Will you make a statement on Adjournment debates, so that they can be handled in the traditional way, and, if so, when?

Mr. Speaker

I have no present intention of making a statement. I deprecate disruption of any kind, but it is particularly regrettable during the prized Adjournment debate, which is an opportunity for Back-Bench Members to raise matters of constituency interest.
