HC Deb 28 April 1989 vol 151 c1197 9.35 am
Sir Bernard Braine (Castle Point)

I beg leave to present a petition from Councillor Mrs. Jill Reeves and other residents in my constituency of Castle Point who are concerned that any future legislation on Sunday trading and commercial activity should uphold the character of Sunday as a shared and special day for the enjoyment of family life, rest, community and worship. Wherefore your Petitioners pray that your honourable House do safeguard the uniqueness of the whole of Sunday, both through the requirements of the law, and through the enforcement of the same. And your Petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray, etc.

To lie upon the Table.
