HC Deb 03 March 1988 vol 128 c1249
Mrs. Margaret Ewing (Moray)

I have the honour to present a petition to the House on behalf of more than 3,200 of my constituents in the communities of Keith and Grange in Banffshire. The petition relates to the desire of my constituents to retain maternity facilities at the Turner Memorial hospital in Keith and states: To the Honourable the Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Parliament assembled. The humble petition of the people of Keith and district and Grange (Parish), Keith Sheweth that Grampian Health Board propose to close Keith maternity unit, Turner Memorial hospital, Keith. Wherefore your petitioners pray that your honourable House will also be against the closure of the Keith maternity unit at the Turner Memorial hospital, Keith, Banffshire. The number of petitioners represents 65 per cent. of the population in the area over the age of 16. That shows the strength of feeling of my constituents on this issue. I fully support their aims, and hope that the House will take cognisance of their desires.

To lie upon the Table.
