HC Deb 28 June 1988 vol 136 c271
Mr. Douglas Hogg

I beg to move amendment No. 246, in page 16, line 38, leave out from beginning to 'or' in line 41.

Mr. Deputy Speaker

With this it will be convenient to discuss Government amendment No. 247.

Mr. Hogg

The amendments are our response to the point made in Committee by the right hon. and learned Member for Warley, West (Mr. Archer). He said—we agree—that lack of recollection is not a good ground for admitting evidence in historic documents of a private kind, but it is a good ground for admitting in evidence historic documents of a business kind. The amendments will achieve that aim.

Amendment agreed to.
