HC Deb 21 January 1988 vol 125 c1077

[MR. SPEAKER in the Chair]

Mr. Cohen

On a point of order, Mr. Speaker.

Mr. Speaker

I cannot take a point of order before we have opened the sitting. I say to the hon. Member that by raising a point of order at this time he puts in jeopardy those who wish to put questions to the Home Secretary. I will take points of order at the appropriate time, which is immediately after Business Questions.

Mr. Cohen

Mr. Speaker

I am sorry, I cannot take it now.

Mr. Cohen

On a point of order. I am—

Mr. Speaker

Order. I have to say to the hon. Gentleman that he will have to raise this at the appropriate time.

Mr. Cohen

Mr. Speaker, a number of people have been denied their democratic rights. This affects the Sessional Orders, and I should like to be given the opportunity to raise the matter of people being denied their right to lobby—

Mr. Speaker

Order. Will the hon. Member please come and discuss this with the Table while I am getting on with the business?
