§ Mr. SpeakerI have to inform the House that I have received a letter dated 6 January 1988 from the resident magistrate in the petty sessions district of Belfast in the following terms:
Dear Mr. Speaker,Cecil Walker, Member of Parliament for Belfast, North, pleaded guilty before me at Belfast Petty Sessions on 26 October 1987, to taking part in a public procession, contrary to Article 3 of the Public Order (Northern Ireland) Order 1987. I fined him £50, to be paid within 28 days.As that fine has not been paid Mr. Walker was today committed to Prison for a period of 7 days, unless the said sum be sooner paid.Yours faithfully,Maurice D.
