HC Deb 13 May 1987 vol 116 c390 9.48 pm
The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport (Mr. Peter Bottomley)

I beg to move, That further proceedings on the Dartford-Thurrock Crossing Bill shall be suspended until the next Session of Parliament; That if a Bill is presented in the next Session which is the same in every respect as the Dartford-Thurrock Crossing Bill when it was presented in this Session—

  1. (a) the Bill shall be ordered to be printed and shall be deemed to have been read the first time; and
  2. (b) the Standing Orders of the House applicable to the Bill, so far as complied with or dispensed with in this Session, shall be deemed to have been complied with or (as the case may be) dispensed with in the next Session;
That this Order be a Standing Order of the House.

If this motion is passed, the work that mainly concerns the authorisation of the new crossing will not have to be repeated as soon as the new Parliament meets.

Question put and agreed to.

Message to the Lords to acquaint them therewith.
