§ 13. Sir Michael Shawasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what further representations he has received on the implications of adopting a policy in the EEC of two-tier pricing.
§ Mr. GummerWe continue to receive such representations, which generally concern the very adverse impact such a system would have on British farmers and the special advantage that it would give to other countries in the Community.
§ Sir Michael ShawIs my right hon. Friend aware that any such system must militate against the interests of the efficient farmers in north Yorkshire?
§ Mr. GummerThat is right. I hope that my hon. Friend will mention the new alliance scheme along this line, announced by the hon. Member for Brecon and Radnor (Mr. Livsey) last week, which suggests that Britain and France should bear the entire burden of the cut in the cost of the regime. We would have to pay for a large quantity of the cost, helped a little by Greece and Denmark, while everybody else would get off scot-free.
