§ Order for Second Reading read.
§ Second Reading deferred till Friday May 15.
§ Mr. Robert N. Wareing (Liverpool, West Derby)On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker. You may be aware of the fact that early-day motion 758, which has been signed by 70 hon. Members from various parties, calls for this legislation to be debated and voted on. The House of Commons has never had the opportunity to vote on ':his principle. I know that the Select Committee on Procedure is my next port of call, but can you advise me whether it is possible for the Select Committee to deal with the rights of disabled people and anti-discrimination legislation before the general election?
§ Mr. Deputy Speaker (Sir Paul Dean)It is not for me to advise the hon. Gentleman on tactics. He is a sufficiently experienced parliamentarian to find some way to raise the matter, as well as putting his points to the Select Committee on Procedure.
