§ 1. Mr. Freemanasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what progress has been made in reviewing the listed status of buildings in Northamptonshire.
§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Environment (Mr. Richard Tracey)The resurvey of Northamptonshire is progressing well and is on target for completion by May 1987.
§ Mr. FreemanI thank my hon. Friend for that encouraging news. When he next meets the chairman of the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England, will he urge him to give priority in using scarce resources of repair grant-aid to buildings which are listed and empty so that they may at least be kept in good structural repair?
§ Mr. TraceyI appreciate the sincerity of my hon. Friend's remarks. He should know that the chairman of the commission has discretion in this matter. However, I am sure that the chairman will have noted my hon. Friend's remarks.
