§ Mr. David Alton accordingly presented a Bill to give tenants in the public and private sectors the guaranteed right to establish housing co-operatives: And the same was read the First time: and ordered to be read a Second time upon Friday 2 May and to be printed. [Bill 101.]
§ Mr. Robert Parry (Liverpool, Riverside)On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker. I seek your guidance because the hon. Member for Liverpool, Mossley Hill (Mr. Alton) several times mentioned the people in the Vauxhall area of my constituency and also the Eldonians, whom I represent. I support housing co-operatives in principle. The hon. Member is always creeping around other constituencies and breaking the conventions of the House. He has even been to co-operatives in my constituency without giving me advance notice. As the hon. Member is recognised by all hon. Members as a political weasel and a guttersnipe, I seek your advice.
§ Mr. Deputy Speaker (Mr. Harold Walker)Order. I very much doubt whether I can give the hon. Gentleman the guidance he seeks. I hope that at all times hon. Members will observe the courtesies and conventions of the House.
§ Mr. AltonFurther to that point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker. I should like to know what protection hon. Members can be given from such unparliamentary comments.
§ Mr. Deputy SpeakerDiscourteous words may have been used, but I have not heard anything that was out of order.
