§ 8. Mr. Lathamasked the Secretary of State for the Defence whether he will make a statement on the outcome of the recent noise survey taken near RAF Cottesmore.
§ Mr. FreemanIt will take some time to evaluate the results of the noise survey. It is therefore too early to say 840 which villages or how many additional houses will qualify for grant assistance when the improved scheme is applied at RAF Cottesmore.
§ Mr. LathamI thank my hon. Friend for arranging for the second survey to be carried out, but will he drastically speed up this exercise'? It is impossible for my constituents to understand why this exercise should take so long. Surely it could be sorted out in a week or so?
§ Mr. FreemanI am sure my hon. Friend will agree that the improvements to the scheme that I announced last November must be welcomed by his constituents. However, it will take a little time to cover the 50 or so airfields which the improved scheme will benefit. I assure my hon. Friend that we will make haste as quickly as we possibly can.
