§ The Minister of State, Home Office (Mr. Giles Shaw)I beg to move amendment No. 49, in page 122, line 26, leave out paragraph 4 and insert
'4. —(1) In sections 17 and 18 of the Cinemas Act 1985 for the words "the Greater London Council" and "the Council", wherever they occur, there shall be substituted respectively the words "a local authority in Greater London" and "the authority".(2) In section 21(1) of that Act, in the definition of "local authority", for the words "the Greater London Council" there shall be substituted the words "a London borough council, the Common Council of the City of London".'.

§ Mr. ShawThese are purely technical amendments, Amendment No. 49 is made in consequence of the recent enactment of the Cinemas Act 1985.
Amendments Nos. 50 and 60 concern section 12 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933, which deals with the safety of children at certain entertainments. They provide that responsibility for enforcing the requirements in respect of buildings licensed as cinemas or theatres or for music and dancing will pass from the GLC to the London borough council or the Common Council of the City of London as the case may be.
