§ Sir George YoungI beg to move amendment No. 45, in page 92, line 15, leave out from 'counties,' to end of line 17 and insert—
'the district councils in the metropolitan county or counties shall become constituent councils of the board in place of the council of that county or the councils of those counties'.This is a technical amendment designed to remove possible doubts concerning the continued application after abolition of the legislation which presently governs the constition of the Peak Park joint planning board in so far as the metropolitan district councils are concerned.It is our intention that the board should continue to be governed by schedule 17 to the Local Government Act 1972 and schedule 1 to the Town and Country Planning 606 Act 1971, and that the transfer to the Metropolitan district councils of the appointment and funding functions as presently exercised by the metropolitan county councils should be effected within the existing legislative framework in association with the provisions of paragraph 2(1) of schedule 3 to the Bill. However, there is now some doubt as to whether the Bill as presently drafted is fully consistent with the objective. The amendment is designed to remove that doubt.
